Part cost estimation during early stage design

Join us on Thursday, September 24 to learn about a new feature in CES selector 2016—the Part Cost Estimator. It will help you to quickly identify candidate materials and estimate part cost in the early stages of conceptual design, saving you time and cost by focusing development efforts on the most promising solutions.

Register for this no-cost webinar to:

  • Find out why companies are exploring the use of materials from different classes and the challenges that they face
  • See case studies that demonstrate the software tools and comprehensive materials data available with the latest release of CES Selector
  • Learn how the Part Cost Estimator takes account of materials and shaping processes, part cost and complexity, off-the-shelf and custom forms, and manufacturing waste
  • See how to rapidly assess performance against part cost across all classes of materials and identify the most promising solutions.

Use the Part Cost Estimator at the early stage of conceptual design when multiple materials are under consideration

Further information

Most of the cost of a design is determined at the design stage, with the part cost determined by the material and process chain. Some part cost calculators are available but they tend to focus on a small group of materials and processes and are not appropriate for early stage design, when details have yet to be defined. The Part Cost Estimator takes account of materials and shaping processes, part cost and complexity, and manufacuring waste. In combination with the material data and selection tools in CES Selector, it enables users to rapidly assess performance against part cost across all classes of materials and identify the most promising solutions.

Who should join the web seminar?

This session will be of particular interest to:

  • Development engineers and designers
  • Project engineers, product engineers, and materials specialists.

About the presenter

Dr. Charlie Bream is the Senior Product Manager for CES Selector at Granta Design. After completing his PhD on recycling of thermoset composites at Brunel University, he spent 14 years in industry working on the development of lightweight materials and structures for British Aerospace (Space Systems), Pera International, and NXT before joining Granta in 2007.
