Paper: Manipulating Properties: Charts, microstructure and processing

Property charts are well-established tools for presenting material property data. They offer the particular benefit to students of providing straightforward visual access to relative material performance. These charts provide a common vehicle for teaching the many different aspects of Materials and lie at the heart of the methodology for material selection implemented in the software of CES EduPack. In this paper, we present their role in teaching the other key connections in the figure: mapping the consequences of changing composition, process history, microstructure and architecture on the resulting properties
