How to include shape in material selection

This session explains how components with different cross-section shapes, such as I-beams and solid rectangular sections, can be considered in material selection projects. This introduces the concept of 'Shape Factor' and how it varies with load condition and material, and includes a demonstration of how shape can be incorporated into Performance Indices and the systematic selection methodology. (Note: since this recording, the 'Performance Index Finder' has been extended to include indices that consider a variable cross-sectional shape)
