Industrial Case Study: Suture Anchor Implant

The aim of this resource is to support advanced teaching of materials selection where real-life applications are desirable. In this case study, we have investigated low cost alternatives to a biomedical PEEK implant. Inspired by a commercially available suture anchor implant, we studied the best candidates for low cost polymers that fulfil typical constraints for biomedical implants. The selection procedure is described in detail and the result is then compared with the actual PEEK material used in an implant.
