SteelSpec

What is it?

SteelSpec is an electronic version of the Steel Specification Book, providing excellent coverage of UK, European, and US Steel Standards: ASTM Standards, British Standards (including BS EN ISO, BS EN, BS ISO and BS), and UNS / SAE / AISI / ASTM Standards.

What is in it?

It contains searchable data on chemical composition and properties of around 4,000 steel specifications. Properties include Standard information, composition, mechanical properties, heat treatments, and links to related material or Standard data.

What is it used for?

Finding properties, finding steels with a given property-set or composition, comparing steels, finding alternatives—for example, to a withdrawn standard.

Where does it come from?

The paper version of the Steel Specification Book is published by UK Steel. The 14th edition was published in April 2013.

How do I access it?

Part of the Global Metals Specifications dataset alongside data from ASM International, the German Steel Institute, and the World Metals Index.  Purchased as part of the Metals data bundle and accessed via GRANTA MI or GRANTA Selector.
