Seminar details

Effective management and use of materials information is vital to engineering enterprises. These seminars discuss how materials information technology helps such organizations to improve productivity, enhance innovation, reduce risk, and address environmental regulations and objectives.

Speakers from leading industrial organizations discuss how they implement and use software for materials data management, analysis, and decision-support. Granta Design will present and demonstrate the latest tools. Granta is the Cambridge, UK-based company that provides software and related services to the Material Data Management Consortium (MDMC), Materials Strategy Consortium, and Environmental Materials Information Technology Consortium - collaborative projects with members such as Boeing, Emerson Electric, Eurocopter, Fortune Brands, Honeywell, GE, NASA, Raytheon, and Rolls-Royce.

These companies use Granta software to capture and manage materials property data in the test lab or from reference sources, to control and analyze that data, and to deploy the resulting information to improve business performance. Examples include deploying materials data within computer-aided engineering systems in order to assist design engineers, and accounting for restricted substances regulations in the design process.

The seminars, which also include discussion and networking sessions, are an excellent opportunity to assess the benefits of materials information technology, to learn how to plan for smooth implementation, and to meet colleagues from similar organizations who face the same issues as you.

Why attend a Granta seminar?

At Granta seminars you can find out how you can:

  • reduce risk and improve productivity in deriving data that is essential to design engineers;

  • organize and apply such data effectively to enhance innovation and improve product and process quality;

  • ensure regulatory compliance in areas including the environment, health, and safety (e.g., EuP, REACH, WEEE regulations, materials obsolescence, and related topics);

  • select or substitute materials in order to meet these regulations, to reduce cost, or to improve performance.

Which of these issues do you face? With which other important business problems can materials information management help? The seminars explore these requirements and discuss practical issues and user experiences in implementing systems to meet them.

What will you learn at a Granta seminar?

Senior managers - your organization makes significant investments in PLM systems, materials testing, quality assurance, and the purchase and processing of materials. To fully exploit such investments, it can be crucial to develop best practice in capturing the right materials data, analyzing it to generate valuable information, and controlling and deploying the results. Join us to find out more!

Materials experts - do you need to consolidate and use complex materials data from disparate sources? Do limitations in your control of test and analysis results mean that you duplicate work, or find it hard to trace the pedigree of design data? Do your designers sometimes use the wrong data? Join us to hear how other organizations have addressed the challenges of materials information management.

Design engineers - do you want to ensure that you are making the right materials decisions in your design process or using the right data in your simulations, without disrupting your well-established workflow? Join us to discover how you can do this by linking to the right materials information technology.
