The Materials Strategy Software Consortium was a collaborative project that defined and applied new software to manage materials data and meet the challenges of material selection, substitution and cost optimization.

Benefits included reducing overall manufacturing costs, mitigating the risks associated with global engineering, and improving product quality.

The work of the Materials Strategy Consortium continues through:

• The GRANTA MI:Materials Strategy package—technology developed via the Consortium now available to any organization interested in improving its materials decision-making.
• The Material and Process Cost Analysis project—a collaboration focused on visualization and analysis of the cost implications of candidate materials in new product development / new market analysis.
