Engineering organizations gain significant returns from making and implementing better decisions in design and in their use of materials. Granta helps you to achieve these returns by ensuring that the correct materials information is always available.
But getting this information, managing it, and making it available is often not enough. It needs to be actively deployed to designers and decision-makers where they need it, when they need it, and in the format that they need it.
Simple web-browser-based access is a good start, allowing users to search and browse data from their desktop. Export of data in formats that can be read by standard productivity tools, such as Microsoft Excel, also helps. But the most effective deployment mechanism is to provide these engineers and managers with access to the data within their familiar engineering or business systems.

GRANTA MI enables users of these systems, from desktop packages to enterprise tools in the PLM context, to access key materials information within their regular workflows. It does this in two ways:
- GRANTA MI provides simple web browser access, allowing users to search and browse approved materials data from their desktop and then copy it directly to simulation tools. Data can be exported in the specific formats required by CAE software. For example, Granta provides ready-made exporters for Abaqus, ANSYS Workbench, COSMOS/M, Nastran, Patran, and Pro/ENGINEER software. (For more on exporters, see the GRANTA MI pages...)
- Granta plug-ins enable direct access to data within third party software. Our application programming interfaces (APIs) let you achieve such integration with any software. Integration can be performed by your own IT professionals or using Granta’s consulting services. Materials data can then be accessed directly from within your CAD or other software, without needing to launch a separate application. The interaction can even be performed in the background, so users need not be aware that it is taking place.

Example solutions
Here are some examples of the use of Granta's products to deploy materials information:
The right data is in the right place - can you use it?
Of course, once you have deployed the right data to the right place, its ultimate value still depends on your ability to use it in making design and business decisions.
