The Granta Abaqus Plug-in

The Granta Abaqus Plug-in enables users of the Abaqus/CAE software from SIMULIA to directly access and use materials property data from a GRANTA MI database, while working in their familiar simulation environment. It provides a selection panel (below) within Abaqus/CAE that allows users to easily find data from their corporate materials database, or from reference information hosted in the GRANTA MI system, and apply it to their Abaqus model.

Accessing corporate materials data

If your organization manages materials data using GRANTA MI, the plug-in technology allows your Abaqus users to import that data into their Abaqus materials models without ever leaving the familiar Abaqus/CAE environment. The Abaqus user need have no knowledge of the GRANTA MI system or of the corporate materials database - they simply look for the data that they require and then apply it, assured that it is up-to-date and approved for their use.

For corporate materials teams and managers, the integration between Abaqus and GRANTA MI helps to ensure that corporate materials knowledge is fully leveraged, and that engineers and stress analysts do not use data that is old, unapproved, or inappropriate.

Materials reference data

As well as providing efficient access to corporate materials data, GRANTA MI with the Granta Abaqus Plug-in can be used to provide Abaqus/CAE users with easy access to authoritative materials reference data. Granta offers a wealth of such property and processing information for applications including aerospace and other high-performance engineering, plastics, and medical device design. Via the plug-in, this data can be delivered directly to the end-user within the Abaqus/CAE environment.
