GRANTA MI:Composites Lab

What is it?

CompositeMI:Composites Lab provides the Composite Schema, a valuable tool that helps you build a corporate composite database, and integration with analysis tools that help you to process and use your test data results. All of your composite data and analysis results can be captured and maintained, together with their inter-relationships, in a fully traceable manner.

GRANTA MI Composites Schema

A key task in implementing any materials information system is defining its database schema. This defines the types of data that are to be stored, the relationships between them, and the operations that can be performed on objects in the database. Getting the schema right can really help to create an effective system—for example, it makes it possible to automate the generation of links between related items as new data is added to the system.

Granta provides a template schema for managing the test data and other data that is typical when dealing with composite materials. You can take advantage of the experience of the leading enterprises who are members of the Material Data Management Consortium, as this collaborative project guided the development of the schema. You can use the schema as it is or adapt it to your needs using the MI:Server configuration tools.

Analysis Tools

MI:Composites Lab allows integration of key analysis tools into your composite data management system, and traceability of analysis results.

The first release integrates STAT-17, the Statistical Analysis Tool for use in conjunction with Composite Materials Handbook (CMH-17). Authorized users of STAT-17 can now access and apply this industry-standard statistical analysis package for the elastic properties of composite materials directly within GRANTA MI. The user simply selects the data that they wish to analyze within the GRANTA MI system, executes a few button-clicks to run the analysis, and then a few more button clicks to return all relevant information to GRANTA MI. Links are automatically created between results, underlying data, and details of the analysis. This smooth integration saves time and ensures auditable and accurate information management.

Ongoing development of these tools means that we will be soon able to provide the same seamless integration of your composite data with ASAP, the AGATE Statistical Analysis Program.
