CES Eco Selector is a specialist edition of Granta's CES Selector, combining its powerful selection tools with data tailored towards eco-design and analysis.

Why Eco Selector?

Materials have a life-cycle: they are produced, manufactured into a product, used and - at the end of their life - recycled or discarded. Environmental damage occurs at all four phases of the cycle and comes in many guises - resource depletion, energy consumption, greenhouse gases, toxic emissions and waste.

The complexities of the cycle present a major concern for today's engineers and designers:

How do I select materials that minimize damage to the environment caused by the product?
Where do I get eco-data for my material if it has never been measured?
How can corporate environmental policy or external regulation impact design, without sacrificing product performance or raising costs?

Such questions are increasingly important as the environmental impact of products becomes a key competitive differentiator and as more environmental regulations (such as the European Union's EuP and WEEE regulations) come into force.

CES Selector software	The core CES selection software provides tools to browse, search, and interact with materials data plus powerful selection capabilities that implement the Ashby selection methodology. You can select suitable materials for your application and rank them according to 'eco-cost' per unit of function. This provides a rational, defensible process for materials decision-making.
Eco Selector property data	Granta's Universe data series provides a comprehensive database of materials and process properties. For EcoSelector customers the standard MaterialUniverse and ProcessUniverse modules are augmented with additional data covering properties of interest in eco-design. Coupled with the CES Selector selection capabilities, this creates an outstanding specialist eco-design tool.
