Ashby, Cebon, and Shercliff win Texty Award for
“Materials: engineering, science, processing and design”

Cambridge, UK – July 21, 2014

A textbook by Granta co-founders Professors David Cebon and Mike Ashby, together with Dr. Hugh Shercliff (University of Cambridge), has been recognized in the Text and Academic Authors Association (TAA) 2014 textbook awards.

Materials: Engineering, Science, Processing and DesignMaterials: Engineering, Science, Processing and Design” (3rd edition), published by Elsevier/Butterworth-Heinemann, was awarded a “Texty” (Textbooks Excellence Award) in the College: Computer Science/Engineering section.

TAA created the Texty Awards in 1992 to recognize current textbooks and learning materials. Judges are veteran authors in appropriate subject areas, who assess books according to the following criteria: interesting and informative; well organized and well prepared; up to date and appealing; and teachability.

This books is one of several written or co-authored by Professor Mike Ashby which are particularly well-integrated with CES EduPack—the world leading package of software tools and resources supporting  materials teaching in engineering, design, and sustainability, used at 1000 universities and colleges worldwide.
