Sandia Nat Labs Join MDMC as Northrop Grumman Host Upcoming Meeting
The Material Data Management Consortium (MDMC) has announced details of the 19th Consortium meeting: the next project meeting will be from January 10-13, hosted by Northrop Grumman in Redondo Beach, CA.
The latest member, Sandia National Laboratories, joins other leading materials-oriented corporations and government agencies in a collaborative project that helps to develop best practice for materials information management, and to guide development of the GRANTA MI software in support of this best practice. Most recently, members provided input on the development of new materials data management features in Version 5 including more streamlined management and browsing of complex materials data.
Since it was established in 2002 (by ASM International, NASA Glenn Research Center, and Granta Design), members of the MDMC have worked together to generate solutions to their own key materials information problems and benefit from shared ideas, expertise, and funding in the solution of common issues with a focus on managing critical data in aerospace, defense, and energy. The Consortium:
- Provides a comprehensive suite of tools to manage all aspects of the materials data lifecycle
- Increases the quality, integrity, and traceability of materials data
- Increases the efficiency of data management and analysis, saving time and money, and increasing competitiveness
- Provides scientisits, engineers, and designers with the data they need, when they need it, in the format that they require.
