Granta Founders Chosen as Material Information Authorities

Professor Mike Ashby and Dr David Cebon, founders of Granta, are co-authors of the Materials Engineering chapter of the massive new 4th edition of Information Sources in Engineering. Ashby and Cebon were chosen as leading authorities in the field, renowned for their expertise and understanding of information requirements of materials engineers – evident both in their academic careers and in their pioneering work with Granta.

Ashby and Cebon's Materials Engineering chapter details the processes used by engineers to find material data. The chapter includes a thorough appendix providing listings of hardcopy and online sources of information on many classes of materials (including metals, ceramics and glasses, composites, woods, and natural fibers), as well as information about software and websites for materials and process data and information, and useful websites for other relevant information, such as supplier registers, government and standards organizations and professional societies.

A review of the 683-page tome, which singles out the Ashby/Cebon chapter for special mention, can be found at http://stlq.info/archives/002055.html.

Further information about the book can be found on the publisher's website.
