Granta Congratulates Renault Formula 1 on Constructors’ Championship Win

Granta has relayed congratulations to Renault F1 Team on winning the 2005 FIA Formula One World Constructors’ Championship. Renault also won the driver’s championship thanks to Fernando Alonso’s seven race wins.

Renault staff are said to be ecstatic to have wrested the Championship from Ferrari, perennial winners since 1999, and squeezed out second-placed McLaren.

Renault has been a user of Granta software since 2000 in Enstone, UK (formerly Benetton F1) and since 2002 in Viry, France. Renault were early in identifying the contribution that Granta’s advanced materials software could make to their engineering process and have previously commented on its benefits to their operation.

According to Granta Managing Director, Dave Cebon, Renault F1 recently upgraded to acquire Granta’s latest technology in the GRANTA MI software. “This is a great achievement for Renault. Granta is proud to have played its small part. F1 development requires very rapid design and redesign of components. It is vital for F1 engineers to have rapid access to all key information about their preferred set of materials; to be able to select the best material for a new component; and to export relevant properties to their stress analysis software, fast. Renault F1 have found that GRANTA MI is the ideal delivery mechanism for this.”

Next season, there is everything to play for as teams adapt to the biggest FIA rule shift for many years, most notably the change from V10 to lower power V8 2.4 litre engines.
