GRANTA JOINS MMPDS INDUSTRIAL STEERING GROUP
Move increases involvement
with key source of aerospace materials property data
Granta Design has announced that the company has joined
the Industrial Steering Group (ISG) of the Metallic Materials Properties
Development and Standardization organization, MMPDS (formerly MIL-HDBK-5).
ISG membership increases Granta’s involvement with this pre-eminent
source of allowable values for materials property data in aerospace
component design.
Granta already supplies an electronic version of
the MMPDS reference. The database can be accessed via GRANTA MI™,
Granta’s enterprise materials information management system.
GRANTA MI allows organizations to integrate such reference data
with internal materials property data, to perform advanced analyses
using a single, consistent data source, and to publish the resulting
certified information to their engineers in a secure and controlled
manner.
Granta attended its first ISG meeting last week in Monterey,
CA. Such deeper involvement with MMPDS will enable Granta to maximize
integration between GRANTA MI and future data and analysis tools
from the MMPDS. Membership of the ISG also strengthens Granta's
partnership with other member organizations, a group that offers an
unrivalled pool of expertise in the use of materials data for aerospace
and related fields.
“We
are pleased to reinforce our links with other leaders in the aerospace
materials information community”, comments Dr David Cebon, Managing
Director at Granta. “Our participation as a contributing member
of the ISG renews and strengthens our
commitment to provide our customers with access to the most comprehensive
and accurate possible range of materials property data.”
