The Codie Awards are the software industry's most prestigious and recognized awards program. Sponsored by the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the Codie Awards hold the distinction of being the only peer-recognition awards program of its kind in the industry.

ASM Materials Information - the online product suite developed by ASM and their software partner Granta Design Ltd. - has been named a Codie finalist in the category "Best Online Science/Technology/Medical Information Service." The four other finalists in this category are:

"ASM Materials Information contains a rich repository of information regarding metals, alloys and materials and the processes used to manufacture, protect, strengthen and design with them," said ASM Trustee Dr. Lawrence C. Wagner, distinguished member of the technical staff and failure analysis technical strategy manager for Texas Instruments. "Users can search across the complete content set, as well as focus their inquiries for very specific property values."

ASM Materials Information's content is contained in two packages, ASM Handbooks Online and ASM Alloy Center Online. "The needs of the practicing engineer and research scientist have been paramount in the design of ASM Materials Information," Wagner said. "We designed our services to dramatically reduce the time required to traverse a huge swath of information. Answers that used to take literally hours to find can now be found in just a few minutes."

The Codie awards showcase the software and digital content industry's finest products and services and honors excellence for corporate achievement. During the nomination period, which closed last October, over 800 nominations from more than 600 companies were submitted.
