GRANTA MI: ASM Scoops Announcement of Granta’s Big News
The veil is lifted on groundbreaking solution for enterprise-wide
materials information management
ASM, the world’s largest
professional society for materials engineering, has revealed
to the world a glimpse of GRANTA MI – a groundbreaking
new materials information management system from Cambridge-based
software company, Granta Design.
Also unveiled was a new corporate style for Granta,
showing a strong GRANTA MI logo sporting the underline ‘Material
Intelligence’.
ASM published
the full-page announcement in the March 2005 edition
of their magazine AM&P, a full month before the product
is due for launch.

The bold announcement
reads “GRANTA MI: Enterprise-wide materials information
management. GRANTA MI is the complete software solution for the
creation, tracking, qualification, and management of materials
information – an integrated system of robust data tools
to work throughout your organization, from test lab to designer’s
desktop.” Collaboration in the product’s development is credited
to the Material Data Management Consortium,
with members including: Alcan Aerospace, ASM International, Battelle
Memorial Institute (liaison for MMPDS), Concurrent Technologies
Corporation, Los Alamos National Laboratory (MST6), Los Alamos
National Laboratory (ESA), NASA Glenn Research Center, NASA Marshall
Space Flight Center, Naval Surface Warfare Center, Rolls Royce
Corporation, Secat Inc., Westmoreland Mechanical Testing, and
Williams International.
To learn more, the world will have to wait until April, when
Granta plans the official launch of GRANTA MI.
