Granta Adopts New Corporate Image
Cambridge-based software company for materials science and engineering,
Granta Design Limited, has adopted a new corporate image. Granta
has used its original logo since it began life as a ‘spin
out’ from Cambridge University Engineering Department in
1994.
“Clear, bold, and memorable were the aims
we set for the new image,” explained Patrick Coulter, Granta’s
Chief Operating Officer.
“We ran a design competition and received numerous interesting
ideas. The winning design gave us a logo and graphics with an
intrinsic ‘materials’ feel that we like a lot. It
is also undoubtedly bold and allows us to clarify communication
of our company and products to customers.”
Granta’s image revision is timed to accompany the launch
of two major new products in the first half of 2005.
Groundbreaking advances are promised with Granta’s new
system for enterprise-wide materials information management,
internally code-named “Platinum”. Platinum results
from over three years collaborative development with customers,
including those of the Material Data Management Consortium (www.mdmc.net).
Granta is also announcing the biggest revision of its educational
product since 2002, to be called “CES EduPack 2005”.
In addition to the new logo and graphic styles, the company
has adopted new strap lines. “‘Material Intelligence’ and ‘Material
Inspiration’ struck the right chord for us. They express
our vision and ambition for customers in the commercial and educational
worlds respectively.”
The winner of the design competition was Bluepoint Design of
Cambridge, whose Studio Director is Christine Carr. “We
are delighted to have been selected by Granta and to work with
a client of this quality.”
