CES EduPack 2005 announced as ‘Next Generation’ of
popular materials and process teaching package
Granta’s ‘superb’ EduPack 2005 is biggest
revision since 2002
Cambridge-based software company, Granta Design, has released
CES EduPack 2005, described as the next generation of Granta’s
successful software-based teaching toolkit for materials and
process education.
Already used in over 400 universities and colleges worldwide,
the EduPack is a complete teaching toolkit for materials and
process education. Teaching is centered around the EduPack software,
and supported by textbooks, lectures, projects, exercises, handouts,
advice and technical support, and optional monthly seminars and
training courses.
Significant new developments in EduPack 2005 include enhanced
differentiation of its three teaching levels, extensively re-worked
teaching resources in six new books, and thorough integration
with the new Third Edition of Ashby’s immensely popular
textbook Materials Selection in Mechanical Design.
Professor Mike Ashby, originator and driving force behind EduPack,
explains: “We have worked to address customer feedback
and new developments in teaching – and most importantly
to fulfill our vision of a complete and inspirational teaching
package.”
EduPack’s teaching method is based on Professor Ashby’s
innovative ‘design led’ approach, which aims to motivate
student’s learning. The EduPack software comprises an authoritative
and extensive database with powerful software tools. Effective
use is made of its famous, visually striking selection charts,
sometimes known as ‘Ashby charts’. Revised teaching
resources include an impressive set of nine PowerPoint lectures
and thorough treatments of student exercises and projects.
Says Dr Helen McLachlan, EduPack Product Manager, “We
want everyone to see it for themselves, to get demonstrations
of the EduPack 2005 software: It’s superb and will do more
than ever to assist teachers and inspire students.” EduPack
is suitable for use throughout the curriculum, from introductory
to graduate levels and is recommended for a broad range of courses
in engineering and design, including a new option for eco-engineering.
