AeroMat 2003 delegates enjoy materials data management course
At AeroMat 2003, Granta Design celebrated its close ties with
ASM International by giving a paper, occupying a booth, and holding
a two-day course.
The paper entitled “A new approach to materials data management
for aerospace organisations” outlined the concept of materials
information flowing within organisations and how the modular software
system, CES4, can be
used to enhance it. Particular emphasis was given to the role the
Materials Data Management Consortium (MDMC) has helping Granta
understand these concepts, with direct feedback and software development
prioritisation.
All aspects of the commercial software system CES4 were demonstrated
to a large audience of engineers on Granta’s booth.
The course, entitled "Materials Information Management for
Aerospace", was attended by delegates from LANL, United Defense,
The Boeing Company, and Pratt and Whitney, who were joined by Dr
Donald R. Muzyka, president of ASM International. The all-new course
covered aerospace materials data management from the test lab through
to the engineer's desktop. Delegates were introduced to a range
of tools available within the CES4 software system which manage
and manipulate the materials information important to aerospace
organizations.
