The Material Data Management Consortium (MDMC)

Materials strategy consortiumThe MDMC is a unqiue collaborative project focused on developing and applying software to manage mission-critical materials data in the aerospace, defense, and energy sectors. Its members include world-leading engineering enterprises and government agencies.

Members

Current members of the Consortium are:

  • ASM International
  • AWE
  • Boeing
  • Honeywell Aerospace
  • GE - Aviation and GE - Energy
  • Lockheed Martin
  • Los Alamos National Laboratory (MST6)
  • Los Alamos National Laboratory (ESA)
  • NASA Glenn Research Center
  • NASA Marshall Space Flight Center
  • Naval Surface Warfare Center
  • Northrop Grumman
  • Oak Ridge National Laboratory
  • Raytheon
  • Rolls Royce - case study
  • US Army Research Labs
  • US Naval Surface Warfare Center / Concurrent Technologies Corporation
  • Williams International

Objectives and benefits of the Consortium

The overall goal of the Consortium is to develop an effective, powerful, and flexible enterprise-wide software system for managing mission-critical materials information. The core focus is to maximize the productivity of materials and engineering personnel, while maintaining the quality, traceability, integrity, and security of materials data. Improving the quality of materials information management will improve the quality of decisions based on that information.

Benefits of membership include:

  • Membership in a world-leading collaborative project, providing networking opportunities with peers in leading engineering organizations and access to expertise in materials information technology

  • A license for GRANTA MI — the leading system for materials information management in engineering enterprises

  • Support from Granta in the implementation and use of this software

  • Formal input to the GRANTA MI development process

  • Training and networking through in-person Consortium meetings, telephone conferences, and web events
