Software Quality Assurance Engineer

This position is no longer available, but contact Granta if you have an interest in similar positions.

Granta Design leads the materials information technology market, experiencing year-on-year growth over the past 10 years with a unique product and great reputation.  NASA, Rolls Royce, Intel and many other industry leaders world-wide are using our software to go higher, lighter and greener.

We are an ever-expanding, highly motivated team searching for a talented Software Quality Assurance Engineer to maintain and improve the quality of our web and PC-based software engineering projects. These are primarily: high-end, server-based, Microsoft .Net applications, for corporate intranets and the Web; and advanced searching, document indexing and data management technologies.

What you’ll be doing

  • Devising and executing manual and automated functional tests for all components of our software systems
  • Measuring the performance of our software using a range of techniques including benchmarking and load testing
  • Working directly with our product managers and development teams to ensure that software is delivered to specification.

About you

If you like to break stuff and understand why it broke; enjoy starting with only the vaguest description of a bug and doing what it takes to define it fully; relish cutting through the tangled web of a specification to get to the bottom of what was actually done; are passionate about delivering quality products; are creative, energetic and self-managing then you might be exactly the person that we are looking for!

We need someone who can think like our users, and can communicate technically complex concepts clearly, both verbally and in writing. You will also be someone who continuously and proactively aims to improve the quality processes around our software.

A proven interest in software development, experience of Windows operating systems and an understanding of engineering processes and/or the use of technical software are essential. You will also have an honours degree (most likely in an engineering or scientific discipline) or equivalent experience.

Previous experience of testing and/or developing software is an advantage, but not a requirement.

Granta Design is successful, focused, trusted, intelligent, and a great place to work. If you're bright, enthusiastic, committed, and like the look of Granta, send us your CV/resume and a cover letter explaining what you are looking for. We are growing and new opportunities are always opening up—some of them may not even be on the website yet.
