This position is no longer available, but contact Granta if you have an interest in similar positions.

Granta Design leads the materials information technology market, experiencing year-on-year growth over the past 10 years with a unique product and great reputation.  NASA, Rolls Royce, Intel and many other industry leaders world-wide are using our software to go higher, lighter and greener;  and many 10s of thousands of students use our educational software every day as part of materials and architectural courses.

The continued expansion in the number and depth of our product lines has seen a commensurate growth in the amount and type of technical documentation needed to support those products.

What you will be doing

You will work closely with Granta's technical teams to develop in-depth knowledge of our innovative software and data products.

You will work within the technical writing team to create user guides for software applications, reference manuals, training guides and online help incorporated into software and operating guides. You will also author software demos and interactive tutorials.

Your materials will help our customers in world-leading engineering and educational organizations to make best use of our products.

About you

  • You will be a recent graduate from a technical writing, engineering, software or other technical degree
  • You will have an excellent command of English, and perhaps some aptitude for languages in general—French and German would be a particular advantage
  • You enjoy understanding complex technical information and explaining this to others through clearly written materials, web pages, and multimedia
  • You must be detail-oriented and have excellent project management skills
  • You are self-motivated, technically accomplished, a team-worker, and have a customer-focus

What we can offer you

The initial placement is for 6 months.  There is the potential for the placement to become a permanent full-time role.  As standard we also offer:

  • A competitive salary
  • A newly refurbished office close to Cambridge city centre—with parking and cycle racks
  • Proper tea and coffee
  • A friendly team
  • Flexible working hours

Granta Design is successful, focused, trusted, intelligent, and a great place to work. If you're bright, enthusiastic, committed, and like the look of Granta, send us your CV/resume and a cover letter explaining what you are looking for. We are growing and new opportunities are always opening up—some of them may not even be on the website yet.
