Industry Collaborations Project Manager

This position is no longer available, but contact Granta if you have an interest in similar positions.

Salary: £Neg + health/gym + pension + share options

Background

Granta participates in a growing number of collaborative R&D projects that are partially funded by EU (framework 6 & 7) and UK (TSB). These projects are in diverse areas of materials and engineering, but include design for the environment, nanotechnology and composite modelling. Granta is required to deliver material science and engineering related software, databases, and services for the projects. The volume of projects already in progress and the potential for further collaborative R&D is now so great that we are looking to recruit a suitably qualified scientist or engineer to fulfil the role of Granta's Industry Collaborations Project Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Manage existing projects—co-ordinate deliverables and reporting
  • Fulfil some of the project deliverables personally (dependant on interests/skill set)
  • Find/assemble/prepare Granta's component of new project bids
  • Guide project participation to maximise benefit to Granta's strategy and core goals—both product development and business development
  • Balance funded R&D projects and with other R&D projects supported by tax credits

Job requirements:

  • Materials scientist mechanical engineering or similar, qualified to PhD level or equivalent R&D experience
  • Broad understanding of materials and engineering technologies
  • Track record of bidding for and managing successful TSB and/or EU projects
  • A degree of commercial acumen
  • A good collaborator, commanding respect of project partners and customers
