This position is no longer available, but contact Granta if you have an interest in similar positions.

Granta develops material and process property data products for use with our GRANTA MI and CES software packages.

We are investing in further development of these products and need a computer-adept material scientist to lead this effort.  The job is an opportunity to have a major impact on the future of materials in the field of engineering and design.

The role:

  • Maintain best practices for material data management within Granta
  • Improve efficiency, turnaround, responsiveness, up-to-dateness, and quality
  • Develop modeling capabilities: material and process cost; eco properties; mechanical, thermal, etc
  • Could include, though not as the main part of the job, some consultancy and implementation projects for external customers.

The ideal candidate:

  • Bachelors or higher degree (e.g. PhD) in materials, metallurgy, manufacturing, or similar
  • Sound understanding of material and processing properties: metals, polymers, ceramics, composites, and natural materials
  • Good computer skills: advanced Excel, VBA, and modelling skills; database and SQL experience an advantage.
  • An appreciation for the applications of materials property databases
  • Ideally, experience of materials and manufacturing in an industry served by Granta: e.g. aerospace, defense, energy, medical, consumer, electrical, electronics, oil & gas…
