Manufacturing enterprises are looking for solutions to the challenges of restricted substance regulations along with other materials-related and environmental objectives. They are asking questions like:
- How do you assess and manage business risk linked to restricted substances?
- Can you reduce the cost of compliance by designing out hazardous substances during early design?
- How can eco design meet corporate sustainability goals?
- Can you avoid costly product redesign due to substance, material, or process obsolescence?
- Is it possible to consider these issues during design, when product changes cost least for most impact?
- How do we manage the materials data associated with these and other business-critical issues?
This seminar provides a chance to meet a group of companies that is answering these questions. It immediately precedes the next EMIT Consortium Meeting and the program includes case study presentations from members including Emerson Electric and Honeywell.

Who should attend?
This session is open to any manufacturing or engineering organization with an interest in eco regulation and design or the work of the EMIT Consortium.
Product Stewardship Managers with responsibility for environmental compliance or REACH will learn about the importance of materials and process information in regulatory compliance, and see how building consideration of restricted substance and eco design issues into the design process is a low-cost, high-impact way to meet environmental objectives and reduce the risks of non-compliance and materials obsolescence.
Managers from materials engineering or similar functions will see how leading enterprises benefit from best practice materials data management. In addition to enhanced productivity and reduced risk in materials engineering, you will see how this technology can help your organization to comply with restricted substance regulations such as REACH.
