The Environmental Materials Information Technology (EMIT) Consortium
The Environmental Materials Information Technology (EMIT) Consortium is a collaborative project with members including Emerson Electric, Rolls-Royce, EADS Astrium, NASA, the UK’s National Physical Laboratory (NPL), and Granta Design.
We invite other manufacturing or materials-oriented organizations to join us in developing data, systems, and software tools that will help to address the vital materials- and process-related issues that control environmental impact in the lifecycles of engineered products. Two key focus areas are:
- Response to environmental regulations and company/industry policies - for example, on restricted substances (e.g., the REACH regulations)
- Enabling design for low energy usage and carbon footprint
