Updated cardiovascular and orthopaedic materials data
The Cardiovascular Materials and Orthopaedic Materials data modules support in-depth application research in medical device design. Following recent updates, they now cover materials, coatings, and drugs used in over 7,200 FDA-approved orthopaedic devices and 3,300 cardiovascular devices, with comprehensive engineering property and biomedical response data. The Cardiovascular module now includes interventional devices such as catheters.

Coming soon: GRANTA MI 3.0 with math functional data
We'll introduce GRANTA MI 3.0 in the next edition. One exciting development is math functional data, enabling users to define and store mathematical models that describe the variation of properties. This enables data interpolation and powerful searches and queries. Interested in GRANTA MI 3.0?

EMIT Consortium addresses eco regulations
The second meeting of the Environmental Materials Information Technology (EMIT) Consortium was held at Rolls-Royce in Derby, UK in April. The meeting discussed members' priorities relating to eco design and environmental regulations, particularly those governing restricted substances. The similarity of interests across diverse organizations was striking—a fact that helped to provide clear guidance for development of the Granta software used by Consortium members.

Information management a key issue at JEC Composites
Granta again attended the JEC Composites conference in Paris in March, hosting a seminar at which Eurocopter was a speaker. Discussions at JEC confirmed growing interest in materials information technology among makers and users of composite materials.

Granta/MTI collaboration enables new online resource
Granta has been collaborating with the Materials Technology Institute (MTI) to enable new data retrieval services for MTI members. Twenty-one MTI publications have now been made available in a searchable online format.
