CES EduPack 2008 extends support for the many different ways in which materials and process educators are now using CES EduPack. CES EduPack:
- Supports a wide variety of teaching approaches—CES EduPack 2008 now references a range of standard materials texts embodying several different approaches (more on different approaches »)
- Enriches a broad range of engineering-related disciplines—CES EduPack 2008 adds Bio Engineering to this list
- Provides a variety of valuable teaching tools—in addition to its materials property databases, materials selection software, and teaching resources, CES EduPack 2008 adds a new 'Eco Audit Tool', available to every user
- Enables teaching worldwide—CES EduPack extends language support for French and German users
Highlights
Eco Audit ToolThe new Eco Audit Tool calculates the energy and carbon footprint of a product at different stages in its life cycle, based on the materials and processes used in the product and some simple data about its transportation and use. The tool allows the user to identify the life phase or phases that contribute most to the product's environmental impact, and thus to focus on the best strategies for reducing this impact. The aim of the Eco Audit Tool is to help in introducing students to the concepts of eco-design and to support design for low carbon footprint and energy efficiency.

Bio Engineering EditionThis new edition augments the standard database of engineering materials with new data covering Bio Materials. This includes categories on the basic building blocks of natural materials, soft tissue, mineralized tissue, woods & wood-like materials, fibers, implant and man-made materials. CES EduPack can now support Bio Engineering and similar courses, allowing students to:

Links to Standard Materials TextsA further reading section has been added to each Science Note. This provides an explicit connection between CES EduPack and a number of standard materials texts with which it is already in use. These include:

German and French EditionsCES EduPack is used at over 600 universities and colleges worldwide. Support for German universities is extended through the translation of the Level 1 & 2 database content into German. This means that German students will now find it much easier to use CES EduPack's information resources. French users will find that the CES EduPack Science Notes have now also been translated, improving the link to the underlying science for students at French universities and lycées.
